RAF Harrowbeer 1940s Weekend 14th & 15th August 2021
Our event is completely free for everyone to attend but we still need financial support. Because we were flooded out in 2018, and had to cancel the 2019 and 2020 events, our funds are low and we will be launching a fund-raising appeal in due course but donations can always be made via our ‘donations’ page. Thank you for your support.

The 15th of August, 2021 is the 80th Anniversary of the Airfield opening and although the Corona-virus cloud is still hanging over the country, we are continuing with preparations for a celebratory 1940s Weekend on the 14th & 15th August 2021.
We are pleased to confirm that the team from 1940sRADIO will be at our event providing music during the event! So you’ll be able to come along and chat to Dave Dawes from 1940s radio. In the meantime, pop over to www.1940sradio.com and enjoy wall-to-wall (or ear-to-ear!) music from the 1940s!
We have an open invitation for re-enactors, history groups, military and vintage vehicle owners to attend the event. Entry to all is free. Application forms will be available in due course, probably in April when we will have a better idea about whether vaccination is finally helping to drive down corona-virus infections.
In 2018, we challenged the Shops at Yelverton to go ‘All 1940s’ and dress their premises in a 1940s theme. We then awarded the best one with the ‘RAF Harrowbeer Memorial Trophy’ for the best dressed shop or business. The 2018 Winner was ‘The Game Larder’. We also awarded ‘Beau’ at Leg O’Mutton with a ‘Highly Commended’ award as although the shops there were not included in the original challenge, Beau, March Hair, Dartmoor Bakery and Rockin Bikes all had a go anyway, and we felt their efforts should be rewarded!
We hope to run this challenge again for the 2021 event.
